Behaviour of Steel Structures in Seismic Areas

The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce STESSA 2012, the seventh edition of this Specialty Conference. The Conference, as in past editions, is devoted to the behaviour of steel structures in seismic areas.
Santiago (Chile) has been selected as the venue of the Conference. It will be the first time that the Conference is held in Latin America. Previous editions of the Conference were held in Timisoara (Romania, 1994), Kyoto (Japan, 1997), Montreal (Canada 2000), Naples (Italy, 2003), Yokohama (Japan, 2006), and Philadelphia (United States, 2009).
STESSA09 in Philadelphia, like all prior editions of the Conference, confirmed the continuing interest in the behavior of steel structures in seismic areas. About 200 participants from 28 countries took part in STESSA09. In all, 150 papers were presented, and published in the Conference Proceedings. STESSA12 will create a forum to present and discuss issues related to the behavior of steel structures in earthquakes and the new and innovative ideas being pursued in steel.
