· University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands Ph. D. in Optical Solid State Physics (Jun. 2000 – Sept. 2004). Ph. D. Thesis title: “Optics and magnetism: From itinerant to localized electrons.” Advisor: Prof. D. van der Marel. − Study of the optical properties of strongly correlated systems at low temperatures. − Experimental methods have included: Transmission and reflectivity in the far and mid infrared frequencies, ellipsometry, DC resistivity measurements. − Materials studied have included: Bulk materials (transition metal silicides, heavy fermion systems, MgB2), Thin films (MgB2, manganites). · University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands M. Sc. in Physics (Sept. 2000 – Mar. 2004). Master Thesis titlte: “Optical Kerr Effect in YV03.” Advisor: Dr. A. Tsvetkov. − This work included the building of the pertinent experimental setup and the related software. − Scholarship granted by the Netherlands Organization for international Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic). − · National Polytechnic School, Quito, Ecuador Physicist (Sep. 1988 – Jun. 1994).
