Claudio I. Estévez is currently an assistant professor in the University of Chile, Santiago, Chile. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research fields include transport protocol design for Carrier Ethernet Networks, optical interconnection, millimeter-wave systems, and WDM-PON. He received his M.S. degree with a major in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a minor in Optical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, AL, USA, 2003. He obtained his B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, PR, USA, 2001. He has worked in the field of telecommunications with several organizations such as the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA, 2003-2011; University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, AL, USA, 2002-2003; the Federal Aviation Administration, Washington, DC, USA, 2003; and the Rockwell Collins Incorporation, Cedar Rapids, IA, USA 2008.
